Grand Rapids Attorney Matthew D. Peterson has been a lifelong resident of the West Michigan area and has been with Auto Accident Attorneys, PLLC since July 2017.  In his undergraduate years at Grand Valley State University, he achieved Dean’s List status nearly every semester.  Mr. Peterson attended law school at Valparaiso University School of Law on a scholarship.  While in law school, he achieved the highest grade of all students in multiple courses.  During his third year of law school, he was a member of the Civil Law Clinic, providing free legal aid to lower-income people and families in the area. 

 

Mr. Peterson returned to the West Michigan area to intern during the summer seasons.  One internship was at the Legal Aid of Western Michigan, where he provided assistance to members of the community who could not afford legal representation.  He also interned with the Muskegon County Office of the Public Defender during its first year of existence.  Upon becoming a licensed attorney, and before joining Auto Accident Attorneys, Mr. Peterson practiced at a law firm in Clare County, Michigan, and began his career by defending indigent clients in criminal prosecution and termination of parental rights cases.  Mr. Peterson obtained significant courtroom and trial experience including favorable jury verdict results.

 

Much of Mr. Peterson’s time has been spent representing lower-income clients.  His experience has taught him how to deal with tough issues and stand up to the higher powers who try to take advantage of others.  Seeing how the typical injured person is treated by their insurance company fuels Mr. Peterson to get justice for his clients.
